What webcam mode really trains
Webcam runs are a sensorimotor + environment skill. You are optimizing gesture clarity for a computer-vision stack: palm orientation, amplitude that still stays in frame, lighting, and rhythm. The peak–valley detector (see engine notes) rewards readable oscillation more than theatrical dancing.

What keyboard mode really trains
Keys 6 and 7 map the alternating pattern onto two fingers (or two hands on those keys). There is no landmark model. Scoring and combo thresholds use the same rep registration and RPS windows as webcam once a rep is accepted. Keyboard mode is ideal when:
- Camera permission is blocked (office, school, shared PC)
- Lighting cannot be fixed today
- You want pure tempo practice
- You need an accessible path without posing for a lens
Fairness and leaderboards
Treat modes as different events, like freestyle vs backstroke. Bragging rights should mention the mode. The site’s callsign submission is for fun global competition; it is not a lab certification. Fair-play expectations (no automated clickers, no forged clients) are covered in Fair play.
Accessibility & inclusion
Not everyone can or should use a webcam. Keyboard mode keeps the challenge open for players who prefer not to appear on camera, share a room with privacy concerns, or have motion constraints that make overhead pumps difficult. How to train both without confusion
- Pick a primary mode for weekly PBs
- Use the other mode once or twice a week as cross-training

Webcam cue words: “palms,” “frame,” “small,” “alternate,” “breathe.” Tape one word on the monitor. Keyboard cue words: “even,” “light,” “tall,” “relax jaw.” Tension in the face usually means shoulders are overworking too.
Streaming layout tips
Creators often pin the game window beside a camera face-cam. For webcam mode that means two cameras or a mirrored layout—test privacy backgrounds. For keyboard mode, a hand-cam on the keys teaches viewers alternation better than face-only shots.
Schools and workshops
